Maldives loose first encounter

Male; Maldives- Maldivian U-19 team lost the first match in the group E encounter against hosts Thailand, where the home side netted 3 goals in the ongoing AFC under 19 Tournament qualifying round.

The young Maldivian side was expected to end the campaign in the bottom of the group, but they gave a good fight to minimize the goal difference. Thailand took the lead when Wattanasupt Jarernsri scored in the 14th minute of the first half. Anusorn extended the lead before the break.

Mohamed Nizaam’s side used three substitutions in the second half, but failed to break the deadlock and once again a Thai player gets in the score sheet when Maitri nodded home.

Maldives faces Japan in the match of group E tomorrow, 8th November.
